According to the St. Tammany Parish school system, Valerie Scogin, a math teacher at Slidell High School who is taking a course on Facebook, is no longer an employee.
Scogin, who graduated from Slidell High in 2003 and worked all her teaching career at school, caught fire when she responded to a Facebook announcement by a Slidell High School graduate regarding Colin Kaepernick's announcement.
Scogin said: "Do not be stereotyped, tell people of that color to stop acting like animals and perpetuate the stereotype."
On Monday, a spokeswoman for the school system said Scogin voluntarily withdrew the post and was disciplined, but she did not say, saying it was a personnel matter.
Then on Tuesday, she issued the following statement:
"When this situation was brought to our attention, the school system launched a full investigation and the teacher involved was allowed to follow due process.This process is over and the teacher in question is not allowed. is no longer an employee of our school system. "
He continued, "This incident does not reflect the values, mission and vision of our district, and we remain committed to providing an inclusive school culture that meets the needs of all our students, employees and communities."
