This is a story in development.

A pilot escaped an injury Sunday afternoon after landing in a ditch adjacent to the Dick's Sporting Goods car park, in a ditch on the northwestern side.

Pilot Greg Mahler was flying from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport to Fishers at Eagle Creek Airpark when an engine broke down. He said that he was planning to land on Zionsville Road, but that there were too many vehicles on the roadway. He put the plane in the parking lot of the sporting goods store.

A Pike County Fire Department official said that no one had been injured in the incident.

The authorities were sent to the store shortly after 14:45. Fox59.com reported.

Mahler said he has 30 years of flying experience and 20 years of experience as an instructor. He was flying in the Indianapolis area from Washington on Saturday and had to land at Metro instead of Eagle Creek because of high winds.
