A freshman from the University of St. Thomas died suddenly after a fall from an apartment building in Minneapolis.

Officials from the Minneapolis Fire Department said the young woman had fallen from the 10th floor of the Bridges Apartments, 10th Avenue and University Avenue SE, near the University of Minnesota campus.

The University of St. Thomas has identified it as Joia Simpson, a native of Bayside, California, interested in business studies.

"Her family wants first and foremost that people remember her beautiful smile," says a university statement.

She was at The Bridges as a guest, attending a Halloween party in the 10th floor suite of the building, WCCO reports.

We do not know how she fell from the rest.

This is the second tragedy that strikes the University of St. Thomas in as many weeks.

In the second year, Katie Mullen died after being unresponsive in bed. The cause of his death has not been confirmed yet.

"These few weeks have been difficult for our university community," said the university. "Counseling and psychology services and the Center for Campus Ministry are available for students, teachers and staff who want additional support in case of grief."

Thank you for watching!
