A student shared photos of injuries she allegedly suffered at the hands of her millionaire boyfriend, because an image she posted on Instagram shows too much cleavage.
Melissa Gentz, 22, says Erick Bretz beat her, kicked her and threw her into her apartment angrily because of the photo online.
According to the law enforcement document, Gentz pushed his partner when he became verbally abusive in the early morning of September 23rd.
She then states that Bretz, 25, was abused, which eventually led to her arrest.
At first, her report on domestic violence received little attention.
But her message became viral in her native Brazil when she posted on Instagram a picture of her bruised face and bloodshot eyes, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
Dozens of Brazilian celebrities have visited social media to share Gentz's photos.
Bretz pleaded not guilty to charges of domestic battery by strangling and altering a witness.
Bretz has made headlines on the Brazilian motocross championship circuit since the age of 15 and Gentz has more than 218,000 followers on Instagram.
Bretz and Gentz are from Belo Horizonte, a Brazilian city located in the state of Minas Gerais.
In court documents filed in the Hillsborough County District Court, Gentz wrote that Bretz "is a multimillionaire and has the resources to harm others."
The couple spent three months before Bretz was arrested at his apartment.
In a report, the police wrote that he had become "argumentative and jealous" after taking medication and drank about four beers and three quarters of a bottle of wine.
The fight started around 4.11am, according to the report.
Gentz told the police that Bretz had taken her mobile phone and "bothered" her to the point where she had pushed and tried to hit him. He threw it on the floor, kicked it in the face and began to strangle it with his legs, the report said.
Bretz hit Gentz several times in the face and tore out strands of hair, she told the police. He swung it around the room by the hair and hit it in the face with a bottle, leaving him a long cut on his forehead, according to the report.
Gentz managed to free himself and ran to the bathroom of the apartment.
She attempted to call 911, but her boyfriend kicked her in the door and trapped her in the room, she reported.
Gentz finally managed to escape from the apartment and ran into the lobby of the building, where the porter called 911 to get an ambulance that would take him to the apartment. Next hospital.
