A high school student was shot dead by a classmate at their school in Matthews, NC on Monday morning, police said.
The Matthews Police Department announced the death at a news conference a few hours after Butler High School, located about 12 km southeast of Charlotte, went into receivership. as a result of the incident occurred early in the morning, according to the NBC affiliate, WCNC.
The authorities have still not revealed the identity of the victim and said that the shooter had been arrested.
