WYOMING, Michigan – A man suspected of killing two people in their home in western Michigan allegedly shot himself after taking hostage his wife and two young children during a clash with the police.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office and the Wyoming police said officers found the suspect dead Sunday night at midnight in a Wyoming apartment near Grand Rapids.

WOOD-TV reports that he died from a gunshot wound inflicted on himself.

Wyoming officers went to the apartment in search of the man after the bodies of a man and a woman were found Saturday morning in Spencer Township, northeast of Grand Rapids. He refused to leave the apartment and authorities learned Saturday night that his wife and two children aged 4 and 2 were being held inside. The woman and the children were released later.
