The coroner of Florence County confirmed the death to ABC News.

The shooting occurred at Vintage Place, a residential area of ​​Florence, about 80 km east of Columbia, according to the emergency department of Florence County.

The active situation is over, but city officials have asked residents to stay away from the area.

Other members of the security forces have been shot and some injuries are "serious," a spokesman for the city of Florence told ABC News.

At least 100 law enforcement officers responded to the scene, reported WPDE, a subsidiary of ABC Florence.
