A Florida teenager was charged with first-degree murder with premeditation after strangling his mother to death and having him buried in a fire after an argument over his grade D, according to police.
The 15-year-old boy confessed to killing his mother, Gail Cleavenger, 46, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
The teenager appeared in a juvenile court on Sunday with two 17-year-old co-defendants who were charged as accomplices after the first-degree murder.
It is not yet clear whether teens will be charged as adults and none of the defendants filed a motion.
The assault occurred early Friday morning after Cleavenger called his husband – the boy's stepfather – who was on a business trip to Washington State, and informed him of his son's grade D of the ensuing dispute, according to the police.
Interviewed Friday at a press conference on the motivation of a matricide, Chitwood replied "Rage".
"Apparently, there was a dispute about [grading] with his mother, and after an argument that took place around 11 am, around 12:30 pm, he went to his room and woke her up and began to strangle her until he killed her ", Chitwood told reporters at a news conference.

According to the police, after strangling her with a rope, the son used a wheelbarrow to carry his mother's body in his truck and then drove him to the River City church and l & rsquo; Buried in a home.
The teenager allegedly involved two other friends who, he said, had helped him bury his mother and organize a burglary scene at his home. The police then announced that the teenager had returned from school Friday and called 911 at 15:52 to report a break-in.
The police also arrested his two friends, both 17 years old. The two alleged accomplices are still in detention. Although they have not yet been formally charged, the police said that they would probably be the subject of several criminal charges.
"These guys helped him bury his mother here," Chitwood said. They helped him to organize a burglary and to conceal all the electronics[ere] stolen from the house. "

When the police arrived at his home, they discovered that the door had been pushed in, that the car had been ransacked and that the Cleavenger truck was in the driveway.
The investigators spent hours talking with his son, Chitwood said at Saturday's press conference.
"He thought that he was the smartest person in the room and kept telling us his theories about what he believed and why: what had happened to his mother and where we should focus our attention "said Chitwood.
Eventually, officials said the teenager had changed course, confessed to the murder and told the investigators of his plot and execution.

"She was a mom. This was a woman. It was a sister. By all accounts, she was an extraordinary human being, "said Chitwood.
