Enthusiastic football fans may have caused a malfunction of an escalator in a Roman metro station on Tuesday, leaving at least 20 injured, Italian media reported via the BBC.
People can be heard screaming in a terrifying video posted on social media, which shows bodies that are thrown over each other while the escalator suddenly lost control.
At least 20 people were injured, according to the BBC report. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported that a victim's foot had been partially cut.
Most of the injured would be supporters of the visiting Russian soccer team, CSKA Moscow, who was in town for a Champions League match against the Roma team.
Police said that witnesses saw Russian football fans singing and jumping on the escalator before it broke down.
