A trio of teams has a case for No. 1

[ad_1]

The rankings of college football and basketball are predictable in one way. If you are ranked # 1 and you lose, almost always, you go down.

Why is it practically automatic? The ranking of the teams should not be limited to a simple defeat. Every week should be a fresh look at a team's resume and current position.

That brings us to the Los Angeles Rams. They were the No. 1 team on the run in the NFL before Sunday. Then they lost to the New Orleans Saints, a game that most NFL teams would now lose as the Saints reached their cruising speed. There is nothing wrong with this loss (although this has clear implications in the playoffs).

Do the Rams always have an argument as the best football team? Should we not consider the fact that the Saints have won and look like a Super Bowl competitor for over a month? And what about the Kansas City Chiefs, whose only loss is a field placement in New England?

It's time to look who deserves the number 1 spot, and we only accept nominations for Chiefs, Saints and Rams. The Patriots are a good team too, but two defeats against the mediocre Jaguars and Lions, although they have improved since then, as expected.

The Rams attack is excellent, they have a very good coach and the defense is good, but maybe not as good as the one announced. The cornerback becomes a problem, if Marcus Peters does not turn things around. But it's still a team with a good resume – although their best win on the road is in Seattle or Denver, none of them are great – and probably the highest potential of the trio. A defeat in New Orleans does not change that. "Data-reactid =" 41 ">rams: An easy question to ask yourself: if you were to choose a winner of the Super Bowl today, would it be Rams? Each team has a good argument to be No. 1. So who gets the first place?

You could probably have an argument similar to the one above to know which team should be No. 32. Bills certainly did it well on Sunday. But the performance of the Raiders last Thursday was so terrible that they have to stay in the basement.

I imagine that Nick Mullens had the game of a lifetime against the Raiders' defense, which is horrible and that also gave the impression of abandoning him. But the next two games of the 49ers are against the Giants and the Buccaneers, and none of these teams are afraid of the defense. If Mullens gets another shot – and it would be a shock if he did not – he could continue this fun story for a while.

We are in a delicate line with Sam Darnold. All the errors do not prove that it will be a bad quarter. But he can not continue playing with scores below 40. Golden Tate is good, but the trader should not make a big difference. The Lions looked horrible in attack after their loss to the Vikings on Sunday. They have invested too much in the offensive line to be able to sell 10 bags. Matthew Stafford was also responsible for keeping the ball too long. Maybe he had to hold it because no one was opening. It was a total mess.

The best theory on the strange situation of Reshad Jones, in which he retired from the game for the last three quarter-finals, comes from ESPN's Cameron Wolfe. Wolfe wondered if dolphins' rotation to recruit rookie Minkah Fitzpatrick on the pitch would not help Jones. On Monday, Adam Gase, coach of the Dolphins, had a lot of discussions with defensive coordinator Matt Burke to better communicate with the players. This is a theory as good as none at this stage.

Three times this season, Houston took advantage in a very tight match of the strange decision of an opposing coach. Frank Reich decided to go into overtime from home and Jason Garrett left the Texans in overtime when he should have done so. On Sunday, Vance Joseph gave up three points following a misguided attempt to make a 62-yard field goal late in the first period, and then launched the dubious call to settle for a 51-yard field goal. instead of being aggressive, which resulted in a long lack at the end of the match. Although it is possible that Khalil Mack absolutely can not play with an ankle injury, it seems that Nagy played as if she could beat the Jets and Bills without him and give him two weeks to heal. If the Steelers eventually win the AFC North, I hope Joshua Dobbs' contribution will be well noted. When Ben Roethlisberger got the wind in the sails, Dobbs found himself in a dreadful situation: second at twenty-two on his own 5-yard line, the Ravens tugging from behind by a touchdown at the fourth quarter. And Dobbs was cold-eyed against a good defense. Dobbs calmly hit JuJu Smith-Schuster for 22 yards and a huge first goal, then Roethlisberger came back. The Steelers scored a shot at goal at the end of this race, and eventually withstood the Ravens. It's a damn clutch piece from Dobbs.
