A woman who allegedly stabbed 5 people in a birth house accused of attempted murder

The woman who allegedly stabbed five people, including three babies, in a birthhouse was charged with attempted murder, the NYPD said Saturday.

Yu Fen Wang, 52, was charged with five attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing five people in what the authorities described as a birth center that did not appear to have a license in New York or the state , officials said.

According to the NYPD, Wang, who had what appeared to be injuries to her left wrist, remained hospitalized on Saturday.

Wang allegedly entered the premises of Flushing District, Queens Borough, at about 4 am Friday, and allegedly stabbed five people, including babies aged 3 days to 1 month, police said.

The victims had to survive, the police said.

The investigators recovered two knives on the scene.

A motive was not determined and the investigation was still active, the NYPD said Saturday.

Local officials and states said that an investigation into the facility, which could have provided maternity services or home to the largely Chinese immigrant community, had begun. The investigation also focused on the legality of the center, officials said.
