It's the moment of emotion that a woman who suffered six miscarriages burst into tears after her mother, the best friend, gave birth to her baby.
Erin Boelhower, 33, has endured nine IVF transfers and over 600 injections in the last three years to try to get pregnant with her husband, Matthew, 33.
They suffered a series of miscarriages but never lost hope of becoming parents one day
Their dream finally came true when Erin's best friend Rachel Checolinski, 34, gave her the gift of her life and offered her to be her surrogate mother.
Two of Erin's embryos were transferred to Rachel's uterus in January and her pregnancy was confirmed later in the same month.
The friends passed next to each other the next nine months and Erin was in the hospital with Rachel, her mother, when she gave birth with Scottie baby on September 19th.
A precious photo shows Erin, moved, as she holds her newborn daughter in her arms for the first time, while her husband Matthew screams in the background.
Sales Representative, Erin, of Woodstock, in Illinois, United States, said, "I do not know how I have lived so long without Scottie.
"I will never forget everything we went through to get her here, and she was definitely worth it."
Rachel, 34, a full-time mother of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, met Erin in 2008 while they were working together at an airport.
She said, "I feel lucky. I am so grateful that Erin allows me to be his surrogate mother. "
As soon as Erin married her husband Matthew, a correctional officer and former naval officer, in October 2012, the couple began looking for children.
After a year without a positive pregnancy test, Erin discovered that her left fallopian tube was infected and had to be removed, which made it very difficult to conceive naturally.
After the operation, he was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and hypothyroidism.
The couple then began intrauterine insemination (IUI), a fertility treatment in which sperm is placed in the woman's uterus.
Erin said, "This would be the beginning of our hundreds of injections.
"I was terrified by the needles. When we started these treatments, I went to Matt's work every night to inject hormones – that was how afraid I was of injections.
"Matt and I tried three IUIs without success. None of them presents the slightest grain of this second line of a pregnancy test. "
In November 2014, Erin and Matt started their first cycle of IVF.
At Thanksgiving that year, Erin discovered that she was pregnant for the first time.
She learned that she had a miscarriage at the age of 30, during her six-week exam.
She said, "It's heartbreaking. You do IVF and then it works. But you never think that a miscarriage will happen to you.
"You are not only disappointed with yourself, but you feel bad because you are not giving your husband the baby he has dreamed of, nor your mother, the grandchild she dreamed of.
Erin's best friend, Rachel, mother of Amarach, 13, Cillian, five, and Teagan, three, were at his side at every step.
After Erin's fourth miscarriage, Rachel offered her the gift of her life: she wanted to be her surrogate mother.
Erin said, "I wrote on Instagram how I had reached my breaking point and she sent me a message.
She said, "What if a friend is your surrogate? "
"It was such a generous offer. I could not understand. "
Rachel's difficulties in conceiving her second child with her husband, Dan, a 34-year-old pilot, had convinced her that she must be Erin's surrogate mother.
She said, "I struggled for two years to design Cillian, so I knew the pain of really wanting and not being able to achieve that dream.
"I had been there during all of Erin's infertility treatments, I cried with her when she lost each of her babies.
"I would say to him, 'I wish I could do something.'
"One day, I was in the shower, I was praying for her and suddenly, the answer came. I could be his surrogate mother. "
Only when Erin suffered her sixth miscarriage in June 2017 did she accept Rachel's offer.
Erin and Matthew raised $ 40,000 to cover the costs of Rachel's surrogacy agency, fertility clinic, legal fees and medical expenses.
In January 2018, Rachel passed a pregnancy test and discovered that she was pregnant with Erin's baby.
Rachel said, "I knew I was wearing and had a baby that was not mine.
"I was very excited to see my best friend become a mother and hold the baby that she had always wanted."
On September 19th, Rachel gave birth to six-pound Scottie at the Aurora Health Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA.
Erin said, "What makes it even more special is that Scottie was born on the birthday of my late father, Scott. He died of cancer of the stomach in 2015.
"It was very difficult for me to watch Rachel scream in pain during work and to know that it was all for me.
"Rachel is one of Scottie's godmothers. She pumps for Scottie now for her to grow up with breast milk.
"I want Scottie to know the important role Rachel has played in her life. It is an indissoluble link. "
