The body of a partially clad and possibly burned woman was discovered Sunday by two people in a wooded area near a New York City school, police said.

The two men, presumed to be teenagers, were walking near Long Pond Park in Staten Island when they found the woman unidentified, who was not responding, the police said.

They called 911 around 1 pm and officers arrived at the scene to find the body, which was not fully dressed and decomposed, the NYPD told Fox News.

Officials said that the body was showing signs of burns and that it had been in the woods for at least two days, although the exact time had not been specified.

The medical examiner conducted an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The authorities are studying how the body was found in the wood of Tottenville.
