A yacht and a sport fishing boat collided Friday night in the Pacific Ocean near the US-Mexico border, injuring several people, including one in critical condition.

The US Coast Guard told KFMB-TV that there were 28 people aboard the fishing boat at the time of the incident near the sea demarcation line.

We did not know immediately why the collision had occurred.

The coastguard immediately began rescue operations by sending a helicopter, a 45-foot boat and the Sea Otter Cutter.

One person, seriously injured in the collision, was flown to a hospital in San Diego, while others were transported by sea.

The yacht involved in the accident calls Attessa IV. Dennis Washington, an 84-year-old billionaire, would own the $ 250-million yacht and a length of 332 feet. According to the Forbes 2018 list, he is the 88th richest person in America, with a net wealth of nearly $ 6 billion.

According to a real-time maritime traffic website, Attessa IV is currently anchored in San Diego Bay, to the north.
