It took almost a year, but a Manitoba woman finally saw the end of a concert for which she almost died.

A year ago, country singer Jason Aldean was on stage at the Route 91 Country Harvest Music Festival when the shots began to fire.

He left the stage and the crowd started to flee for their lives.

"Tonight was horrible," Aldean said on Instagram just after the shoot. "It makes my heart ache that it happens to anyone who has just gone out to enjoy what should have been a fun night out."

Jody Ansell from Manitoba was part of the crowd.

Ansell was one of 869 people injured that night when she was hit on the arm by a bullet.

Last month, her family surprised her – an opportunity for her to finally see the country singer on stage, and this time the end was perfect.

"I told him I was on Route 91 and I'm here to finish what we started," she said. "I will not let anything take away what I like. I will not let him [the shooter] to win."

Seeing Aldean perform again, hearing these songs again was part of Ansell's healing process.

Her physical injuries have healed, but she is still overcoming emotional scars.
