A year later, survivors of shooting in Las Vegas show their strength and return to Jason Aldean's concert at Irvine

Survivors of the Las Vegas shootout showed their strength by attending a Jason Aldean concert nearly a year after the unforgettable slaughter of the singer's performance.

For many fans, attending the country star concert at Irvine on Saturday was a triumph, marking the end of a long and difficult year.

On October 1, 2017, they were in Las Vegas to attend the performance of the singer at Route 91 Harvest Music Festival until a shooter inside the Mandalay Bay hotel open fire. Thousands of people ran for their lives while spraying bullets on the crowd. A total of 58 people died and hundreds were injured.

"We were lying between the seats and panicked, of course, thinking we were going to die," said survivor Cathi Martinez.

Another survivor, Jasara Requejo, was shot and wounded three times. She was in Las Vegas with her sister, aunt and two close friends.

"I got hit again in my arm and, as I started to go down, I was hit on the side," recalls Requejo.

On Saturday afternoon, the five survivors gathered for a photo shoot before heading to the Aldean concert.

"Today is a joyous day because we are celebrating our lives," said Kendra Hobbs, who is part of Requejo's group. "We went out with our life."

"We had a horrible year and it's not over yet, but it's the starting point where we're going somehow where we left, finish what we started and heal and move on," he said. said Requejo.

Tiffany Martinez was at the Route 91 show celebrating her 30th birthday with her mother and fiancé when the deadly murder took place. They were determined to attend the Saturday night concert.

"It's very exciting because I love Jason Aldean, he's one of my favorite artists," Martinez said. "But it's sad too, because people are no longer there."

The message of many fans attending the show of the evening was that they would not let the tragedy stop them from living their lives.
