Reality personality Abby Lee Miller took Sunday to Instagram to share a photo of her scar from her surgery last month. She had an emergency procedure on her back in April.
Miller, 51, is currently recovering from the operation. The Alum Dance Moms was treated by Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, an orthopedic spinal surgeon who first treated her at Cedar Hospital Sinai Marina Del Rey in April. According to Sunday's post, Miller's scar is along his spine, neck down.
"After the second operation, my back is finally healing," Miller wrote Sunday. "I would just like the top and bottom hurry too! I had 52 staples perfectly lined up and now a bunch of stitches hold my neck and lumbar region together!"
Miller was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, in April. It first surfaces in immune cells called B cells, which protect the body against germs acquisition, reads the American Cancer Society (ACS) website. Cancer is rare, with symptoms of the disease, including abdominal swelling, night sweats, and an enlarged thyroid, according to Healthline.
Miller's two parents died of cancer. His mother suffered from colon cancer and his father battled cancer of the esophagus. She was spotted in a wheelchair shortly after announcing the start of her third round of chemotherapy.
Miller thanked the fans for supporting him in his battle with cancer. "So much gratitude and love for those who listened, those who looked more deeply and those who got into action," Miller wrote on Instagram following his April procedure. "Much more than I wish I could say … how fast your life can change in the hands of others."
Doctors initially said that she was suffering from an infection of the spine. Before his surgery in April, the dance teacher was paralyzed by the neck. Melamed said that she almost died.
