ABC: Cohen has done several interviews with Mueller's team

Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer, declined to comment. Peter Carr, a spokesman for the special council office, also declined to comment, as did the US District Attorney's Office in the southern district of New York.

Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts last month and personally implicated Trump in funding campaign violations related to the payment of two women who claimed to have business with Trump. The President denied these allegations.

CNN later reported in August that Cohen had resigned to prison to protect his family. The plea agreement indicated that Cohen could face three to five years in prison.

Cohen's reported cooperation with Mueller's investigation marked the latest example of a Trump employee working on the investigation that the president regularly criticized as a "witch hunt".

A federal judge said on Wednesday he was setting a date of conviction for Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, who pleaded guilty last year to lying to investigators and agreed to cooperate with the special council . Former Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, also pleaded guilty to several federal crimes and agreed to cooperate with Mueller's investigation.
