The report indicates that the team of special advisers is mainly focused on Trump's dealings with Russia. The investigators were also interested in whether Trump's or Trump's associates were discussing the possibility of a pardon for Cohen.
ABC stated that Cohen had participated in unchallenged interviews for himself.
Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer, declined to comment. Peter Carr, a spokesman for the special council office, also declined to comment, as did the US District Attorney's Office in the southern district of New York.
Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts last month and personally implicated Trump in funding campaign violations related to the payment of two women who claimed to have business with Trump. The President denied these allegations.
Cohen's reported cooperation with Mueller's investigation marked the latest example of a Trump employee working on the investigation that the president regularly criticized as a "witch hunt".
