NEW YORK —
A talk show hosted by Alec Baldwin and a spin-off entitled "Dancing with the Stars" are among the many programs that join ABC Fall's programming.
The network unveiled a total of eight new series for the 2018-19 season at Upfronts in May, including five one-hour series – "One Million Little Things", "The Fix", "Grand Hotel", " The Rookie "and" Whiskey Cavalier "- and three half-hour comedies," The Kids Are Alright "," Schooled "and" Single Parents ".
ABC also presents "The Alec Baldwin Show", which according to the network "will present Baldwin's deep conversations with compelling personalities". It fills the 22 hour hour on Sunday, while "Dancing with the Stars: Junior", a version of the original show that features much younger celebrities, will air at 8 pm. Sundays.
Favorite fans like "The Good Doctor", "black-ish", "How to go with the murder" and others are supposed to come back.
There is no lack of momentum in the prime time schedule.
"We have the new number 1," said Disney Media Networks co-chair and Disney-ABC television group president Ben Sherwood.
He was referring of course to "The Good Doctor".
"Sean always tries to see the good in people," said star Freddie Highmore. "At a time when there is so much negativity, I think someone like Sean is refreshing."
And he gives another reason for the success of the series: a call to "outsiders" everywhere.
The serious business of selling billions of dollars in advertising also has a lighter side, provided annually by Jimmy Kimmel.
"I just want to make advertisers laugh, because everyone has a hard time selling them all week," he said. "So, it's an opportunity to put a pin in the bubble."
Here is one of his jokes: "All those who say that Hollywood has no new ideas, we are not, it's just one of our new ideas for Google:" What were our old ideas? "
In general, the atmosphere during the presentation and the party is festive, as it occurs a few days after dozens of artists have learned that they have a job. Afton Williamson faces Nathan Fillion in "The Rookie".
"I did not even know how to feel," said Williamson. "You're crying, you're jumping everywhere, you're excited, it's probably the coolest, it's the coolest thing that's happened to me."
