The second week of the ACC's football season has consolidated the teams in the top and bottom of the league, while doing little to clarify how the conference midfielder will shake this season.
The league suffered two losses against a group of five teams, but also enjoyed a pair of five wins, including one ahead of Texas A & M's ESPN Gameday team.
Here's how the ACC stacks up after the second week of the college football season.
1. Clemson
Associated Press
1. Clemson
Record: 2-0 (0-0 ACC)
Last week's result: Victory 28-26 at Texas A & M
Last week's ranking: 1
This week's game: Saturday against Georgia Southern, 3:30 pm
Perspective: The ACC national title contender was not as dominant as some expected, but the # 2 Tigers left undefeated with a win over a good SEC team playing in front of an audience unbelievable.
It was like a little escape. The Tigers lost the last 13 points, were eliminated close to 100 yards and avoided overtime by stopping a late conversion of two points. Clemson also took advantage of a controversial call in the fourth quarter when Texas A & M was deemed to have escaped the end zone rather than going out of bounds. The Aggies lost the ball and a chance to score.
The much-appreciated Clemson defensive line was as advertised. Led by Clelin Ferrell, the Tigers had four sacks and ten tackles for the loss, although the match brought to light some problems the Tigers will have to settle. Clemson gave up 430 yards and continued to shoot Kelly Kelly and Trevor Lawrence.
2. Virginia Tech

2. Virginia Tech
Record: 2-0 (1-0)
Last week's result: Win 62-17 against William & Mary
Last week's ranking: 2
This week's game: Saturday vs East Carolina, 12:20
Perspective: The No. 13 Hokies build on their Florida State Week 1 win by doing what you expect from a high-level team against an FCS opponent.
Six different players scored touchdowns and Virginia Tech's defensive front dominated for a second straight week, conceding only 1.2 yards per run and finishing with nine tackles for the loss. They currently rank third in the country in contention for loss with 23.
3. Miami
Associated Press
3. Miami
Record: 1-1 (0-0)
Last week's result: Win 77-0 against Savannah State
Last week's ranking: 3
This week's game: Saturday in Toledo, noon
Perspective: Miami bounced back from its disappointing first game against LSU, destroying a bad FCS team and making a four-game losing streak.
The # 21 Hurricanes forced four turnovers, paying a lot of attention to the team's new revenue stream, which includes a stunning image of its mascot, Sebastian Ibis.
It's hard to take too much time in a game where teams are unequally matched. Miami currently owns this place because of what it did last season. He will have to start winning.
4. Boston College
Associated Press
4. Boston College
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
Last week's result: Win 62-14 against St. Croix
Last week's ranking: 4
This week's game: Thursday at Wake Forest, 7:30 pm
Perspective: Boston College won its second consecutive game by more than 30 points. Attending midfielder AJ Dillon carried the ball six times for 149 yards and three touchdowns. Aigle's defense had four interceptions, including the second of the season by Lukas Denis.
Boston College scored the first 48 points of the game and had plenty of play time for his backups, a fine luxury with a Thursday match in Week 3.
