Cottage cheese before the bed
In fact, eating two tablespoons of cottage cheese about an hour to 30 minutes before going to sleep can work wonders for the health of a person. Low-calorie, protein-rich foods could replace traditional health drinks such as protein shakes and supplements.
The study published in British Journal of Nutrition involved 10 active women in their twenties. Each woman received about 30 grams of cottage cheese 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed or two hours after dinner. On waking, the team of researchers measured participants' energy expenditure at rest or the amount of energy they burned while sleeping and their appetite.
The purpose of the study was to determine if there was a difference between the consumption of whole food protein and liquid protein. Surprisingly, the results showed that eating two tablespoons of cottage cheese before bed could have the same effect as shakes. Participants also did not gain body fat through cottage cheese during the experiment.

The researchers boast that this study is the first to prove that consuming whole foods as opposed to protein shakes or dietary supplements could be good for one's health.
"Protein supplements certainly have their place, but it's important to start collecting food data and understanding the role they can play in these situations," said Samantha Leyh, a Florida State student. University. "Like additive and synergistic effects of vitamins and minerals when they are consumed in the form of whole foods such as fruits or vegetables, whole food sources could make likewise. "
The researchers warned, however, that their findings could not be applied to all whole foods. Additional studies are still needed to determine if other foods will have the same effects on the health and well-being of a person as cottage cheese.
Michael Ormsbee, an associate professor at Florida State University, assured that he would continue to look for other dietary choices that can help people recover from exercise, lose weight and improve their lives. overall health.
"There is much more to discover in this field of study," added Ormsbee.
