According to Rangers, Chris Woodward, new coach of the Dodgers, would be the new manager

Dodgers third goal coach Chris Woodward was reportedly the Texas Ranger manager. Jon Morosi confirms Bob Nightengale's original report.

Last season, the Rangers lost 95 games and found themselves in last place in the AL West with Jeff Banister and acting Don Wakamatsu, who led the team in the last 10 games of the regular season. It was the second consecutive losing campaign for Texas after winning two consecutive titles under Banister in 2015 and 2016.

Woodward, 42, has spent 12 seasons in the majors as an infielder, mostly with the Blue Jays, having been drafted in check in the 54th round. After his playing years, Woodward worked for the Mariners as a minor league coordinator and coach. He is the third base coach of the Dodgers since the start of the 2016 season. Woodward also managed New Zealand in the World Baseball Classic 2017 qualifying rounds. The Dodgers have won consecutive National League pennants while Woodward was on the coaching staff.

With Texas, Woodward is expected to take over a team that will not be profiled as a candidate in 2019, but has some convincing young talents like Nomar Mazara, Rougned Odor, Joey Gallo, Willie Calhoun, Ronald Guzman and Jurickson Profar.
