TACOMA, Wash. – Police said that an armed man had been shot and taken into custody following a hostage incident that may result from a theft committed near here.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Office said on Twitter around 10 pm. On Thursday, the suspect was in custody after exchanging shots with Sky Motors Inc. deputies in Parkland.
The sheriff's office said that the man was wearing a bulletproof vest and that he had been hit in the jacket by a round launched by deputies.
He had barricaded himself inside the company and had several guns with him, including shoulder guns, says CBS Seattle's affiliate, KIRO-TV.
Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor said the suspect entered Sky Motors Inc. in Parkland around 8 pm and held four people under the threat of a weapon. Pastor says that when the officers arrived, three people came out of the building and the suspect took a person to a back room.
He says that a little later, this person ran out.
