A volunteer scouting treasurer in California was caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

Patricia Cascione, 52, was arrested on Monday at her home in Santa Clarita, charged with stealing for stealing several organizations in the past five years, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Detectives in the Fraud and Cybercrime Division began investigating Cascione after noting potential fraud. They soon came to believe that Cascione had diverted more than $ 58,000 from the bank accounts of several Girl Scout Troops and the Girl Scout Unit.

Cascione worked for 20 years as volunteer treasurer for several Girl Scout Troops and a Local Service Unit.

Cascione was also surprised to steal more than $ 30,000 as she was the financial director of the Beverly Hills Cancer Center, authorities said.

The authorities believe that other organizations may have also been victims, as Cascione has been raising money for several organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley over the years.

Cascione was released on bail of $ 20,000.
