Parsons, who said he has cancer-related complications, will be replaced by Strauss Zelnick, founder of privately-held private equity firm Zelnick Media Capital, the statement said.
Zelnick is currently Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Zelnick also joined the board in September.
Also last month, Leslie Moonves, CEO of CBS, resigned following allegations of sexual assault and harassment. Moonves said the charges were false.
At that time, CBS also announced the signing of an agreement terminating the dispute between majority shareholder Shari Redstone and National Amusements Inc. over control of the broadcaster and the media company. Six board members have resigned and new directors have been appointed, including Parsons and Zelnick.
