Comedian Katt Williams was arrested for assaulting a hired driver during a dispute over taking him with his dog from the airport of Portland, Oregon to a show in town.

Williams, who was in prison on Sunday, came to Portland to play Friday night in Nick Cannon's television series "Wild & N Out".

According to the Port of Portland Police, the driver of the city car was swollen and had cuts in his face and had been treated in a hospital. The 47-year-old comedian, whose real name is Micah Williams, left in another car and was arrested on Saturday.

Williams has been charged with fourth degree assault and a hearing is scheduled for Monday. He was also arrested on an out-of-court order by Georgia.

A Williams publicist, whose comedy specials were published on HBO and Netflix, did not immediately respond to messages requesting comment. A prison official and a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said that they did not know if the comedian had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.

The incident occurred at Atlantic Aviation, which operates private planes at Portland International Airport, police said. An employee who answered the phone on Sunday said her boss told the workers not to discuss the case.

Williams won the Emmy Award last month for the guest actor in a humorous series for his appearance at "Atlanta," a television show about two cousins of the Atlanta rap scene.

His arrest comes more than a year after Williams was sentenced to three years of probation in Los Angeles after arguing unambiguously for stealing the camera from a celebrity photographer. Prosecutors said in April 2017 that he was also scheduled to take anger management classes.

In 2016, Williams was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading no challenge in Georgia for assault and battery related allegations that he allegedly threatened a bodyguard while an acquaintance was beating him with a baseball bat.
