Russell, who denied the allegations, was placed on administrative leave on September 21 after his ex-wife Melisa Reidy reiterated his allegations of domestic violence.
"After fully understanding the situation, I concluded that it was in the best interests of my family to accept the resolution proposed by the MLB," said Russell in a statement released on Wednesday. by his lawyers. Chicago acquired Russell during a transaction in July 2014 with Oakland Athletics. He helped the Cubs win the World Series two years ago, beating .238 with 21 homers and 95 RBIs in 151 games this season.
