VOORHEES, NY (AP) – Health officials have announced the discovery of two new cases of adenovirus-infected children at a pediatric health facility in southern New Jersey.

The Pediatric Voorhees facility near Philadelphia told WPVI-TV on Friday that the total number of infected patients was 12. The facility manager stated that there were no deaths and that none of the patients was in critical condition.

At least 10 people died earlier this year as a result of the outbreak of a different strain of adenovirus at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in New Jersey. There were 28 cases associated with respiratory virus in the center, where affected children had a severely compromised immune system. A dead man was a young adult.

Officials said that there was no wider public health problem stemming from the outbreak.
