Is it too late to register to vote?

Yes, the closing date for the book to register to vote for the general election was October 9th.

How many people are eligible to vote in Brevard County?

There was a total of 422,606 registered voters at the deadline. Of these, 177,943 are registered Republicans; 130,958 are registered Democrats; 109,259 are voters without political affiliation; and 4,446 are members of a minor political party.

What is the likely participation rate?

Relatively heavy for an election in which the presidential race is not on the ballot, according to Brevard County's election supervisor, Lori Scott.

"I think we will overtake the last two governor elections, 55.88% in 2010 and 59.47% in 2014." I would not be surprised if we reached 65% or more. "

The voter turnout at Brevard for the August 28th primary election was 31.24%, which Scott says is the highest for a primary election in more than two decades for an election year at the polling station. governor.

Special advice for voters?

Scott recommends that voters plan ahead by examining their sample ballot before going to the polling station.

The vote is long this year, with the 12 constitutional amendments or constitutional revisions of the 12 states. Entering the voting booth without doing one's homework in advance can mean a long stay.

Scott said that voters who plan ahead and bring a sample of marked ballots can go in and out of the polling place in 5-7 minutes. Voters who do not do their research beforehand can be there for 15 to 20 minutes to try to understand things on the spot.

Hi! Here we have full coverage of the mid-term elections. Let's start!

"If they see the amendments for the very first time, they will probably spend a lot of time in the voting booth," Scott said.

Where can I get a sample of the ballot?

Voters should have received one in the mail because they were posted on October 22.

If you have not had one or if you have lost it, sample ballots can be downloaded and printed by following the links on the Brevard County Election Supervisor's Office Web site. , www.VoteBrevard.com.

What is the misconception that voters should know?

Scott says that a common misconception is that you have to vote on every element of the ballot for your vote to count. This is not the case.

If you do not want to vote on a particular amendment or political race, skip it and move on to the next point. If you just want to vote for a candidate and ignore everything else, you can do it too.

Your vote will count for everything you vote.

What's new this year?

Under court order, ballot samples from Brevard and a number of other Florida counties are now printed in English and Spanish.

Scott stated that paper ballots filled out by voters are only in English, which is in accordance with the court order.

Voters may request to use AutoMark voting materials to vote. This equipment can translate the vote in Spanish.

Something unusual about voting?

Following the recent death of Florida District 14 Senator Dorothy Hukill in R-Port Orange after the ballots were printed, the Republican Party was allowed by law to nominate a candidate, Tommy Wright, of New Smyrna Beach.

So voting for Hukill on the ballot will count for Wright.

The Democratic candidate in this race is Melissa "Mel" Martin from Cocoa.

District 14 of the Florida Senate includes North Brevard County and South Volusia County.

And if I vote by mail?

If you vote by mail, Scott recommends mailing your ballot by mail at least five days before the November 6 election in order to make sure it reaches his office on time.

You can also file a postal ballot on one of the advance polling sites during the advance polling period.

Another option is to deposit the ballot at one of the four administrative offices of the Brevard County Election Supervisor during regular business hours.

Voters can request a postal vote or vote on the Election Monitor's website at www.VoteBrevard.com or by phone at 321-633-2127.

The postal ballot must reach the election office supervisor no later than 7 pm November 6th.

Since the vote is bilateral, it is important for voters to pay particular attention to the instructions in their postal voting package, Scott said.

How many ballots have been sent?

On October 9, 100,701 postal ballots were sent by Scott's office to the national electors. This is in addition to the 3,344 ballots mailed on September 21 to the electors of the army and abroad. Since then, more postal votes have been sent to voters who ask for them.

Voters who received a mail ballot also received "I Voted by Mail" stickers (I voted by mail) in their package.

What can voters still do on the Brevard County Election Supervisor's website?

Voters can check their registration status, update their party affiliation, or obtain a card from their polling station via the website.

"Before each election, I recommend that voters check their voting record information on the website or by calling my office," Scott said.

How many election workers will there be?

There will be 90 to 100 people working at the polls on the nine advance polling sites.

On polling day, there will be 115 polling places in the 174 electoral districts of Brevard, and some localities will have more than one electoral district.

Scott said nearly 1,350 election officials will be deployed on polling day.
