Houston, Texas – Titan quarterback Marcus Mariota did not know he was on a good start.
And after Monday's 34-17 loss to the Texans, he did not really seem to care.
Mariota started the game by completing her first 19 passes. He was 19-on-19 for 271 yards and two touchdowns before launching his first late game loss.
His finals series broke a record of "The Titans era", which he beat earlier against the Eagles earlier this season when he was finished 15 in a row. Mariota finished the game 22 of 23 for 303 yards with a passer-by score of 147.7.
Mariota pointed out the mistakes, which led the Titans to see their 10-0 lead dissipate into another disappointing defeat.
"I can do a better job, though," said Mariota after the match. "I did not help our guys up front, I was holding the ball too long. I got in negative situations, taking some of these bags. I will watch the film and make improvements, and improve. "
Mariota has been sacked six times in the competition, and has now been sacked 35 times in 10 games this season. The Titans could not take advantage of Mariota's success because they did not help in third place by scoring 4 points out of 12 (33%). The Titans were stuffed on a fourth and a run by Luke Stocker at the 3-meter line earlier.
"They did a good job in the third inning against us," said Mariota. "To continue to maintain our efforts, continue to maintain our momentum, we must be effective during the third run. And I think there were times when we could play a big piece, but we were stuck. If we want to be the offensive we want to be, we need to improve in this area and be able to continue to support our motivation and score points. "
Mariota is close to Jonnu Smith for a 61-yard touchdown early. On the play, Smith caught a short pass in the middle of the field, then led all the opponents to the end zone to reach the score of 10-0. But the Texans responded with 27 consecutive points.
Later in the game, Mariota contacted receiver Corey Davis for a 48-yard touchdown, earning a 27-17 record. The touchdown pass was Mariota's 16th consecutive performance to start the match.
But none of the statistics counted in the end, the Titans having fallen to 5-6.
"We just have to focus on tomorrow," said Mariota. "We can not worry about anything else – just take care of your business, take care of your household and find ways to improve yourself.
"Basically, we did not play complementary football. We have not done enough work in all areas. At the same time, there is no loss of confidence. Go back to the film and find possible improvements, then bounce back. "
