The time for Halloween and the football weekend in South Louisiana seems clear. But extreme weather conditions are possible Thursday in the region.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight risk of bad weather in the Baton Rouge area and a marginal risk of bad weather in New Orleans.
According to the NWS, a slight risk means that there is between 5 and 15% chance of tornadoes, high winds and hail. A marginal hazard has about 2-5% chance that storms will produce tornadoes, high winds, and hail.
Forecasters have not ruled out the possibility that threats will move from a marginal / weak level to a higher "enhanced" one.
According to an NWS update on Tuesday afternoon, potentially violent weather will likely occur after Wednesday at midnight and Thursday morning.
The NWS said the environment is ripe for an episode of severe weather in the area and probably the first real severe weather event we have since spring 2017.
It is possible that 1 to 3 inches of rain falls Thursday morning with these strong storms, forecasters said.
A cold front will sweep the storms. Fridays in southern Louisiana will take place in the 60s, with troughs in the 40s to 50s. Saturday for Alabama vs. LSU, peaks will reach 70% and lows in the mid-50s .
Sunday seems a little hotter for the Los Angeles Rams against the Saints. Sunday will be around 75 years old and the minimum around 65 years old.
