Mr. Akbar, returned to India today after being called to resign, following charges of sexual harassment
The Union Minister, Mr. J. Akbar, who returned to India today after being called to resign his leader for allegations of sexual harassment, firmly denied the accusations, calling them "fake, manufactured and deeply scary". He threatened to take legal action against those who accused him of sexual harassment and said the charges had political motivation before the elections next year. Mr. J. Akbar, 67, was on official tour in Nigeria when a dozen women detailed information about his allegations of sexual misconduct on social media. Accounts have become part of the # MeToo movement that has swept India in recent days.
Journalists, including those who gathered the allegations against him on Twitter, came out in support women who alleged a fault.
Anoo Bhuyan, a reporter at The Wire's news portal, said in a tweet that it was "a different world" for MJ Akbar, using the hashtag #TimesUp, used by women who claim to have been harassed by men in positions of power.
I have read @mjakbar complete declaration.
He seems to think, because no victim screams about how his aggression has left his body ravaged by a rod coming out of his throat (tick tick tick …), he is innocent and enjoys impunity .
It's a different world, MJ.
Your time is up.#Time is up– Anoo Bhuyan (@AnooBhu) October 14, 2018
Maha Siddiqui, another journalist, tweeted on Twitter: "The testimony of more than half a dozen women opposed to a two-page man's statement demonstrates just how difficult the #MeToo campaign is . "

Editor Shekhar Gupta also went on Twitter, saying that he was "not surprised by Akbar / BJP who sold him". He said that under the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "no one is required to be the subject of any allegation".
Not surprised by Akbar / BJP who sold it. The most consistent thing in Modi-Shah's policy is that no one is required to be the subject of any allegation. Those who jumped to announce the resignation of Akbar should have searched on Google Kuldip Singh Sengar, BJP deputy in custody for rape and murder

Karuna Nundy, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, also tweeted: "Hubris was heading for impunity".
Hubrise has seized impunity. Because #MJAkbar is of course the star of the BJP. #MJAkbarMustGohttps://t.co/c15J5x2hE1

Veteran journalists Rajdeep Sardesai and Sagarika Ghose also tweeted their support for the women accused of harassing Mr. J. Akbar.
Sagarika Ghose in a tweet said MJ Akbar "shames the Indian Republic".
More than 10 women all say lies, Mr. @mjakbar ? And this is happening because of the ELECTIONS? You shame the Indian Republic https://t.co/XA5gpKcSSB

"A dozen professional women have an agenda?" Rajdeep Sardesai asked on Twitter.
Why did a storm only appear before the elections? Is there an agenda @mjakbar . A dozen professional women have an agenda? Are you serious sir? And @PMOIndia visibly silent on his mantri! Now you are the judge ..

Former party leader Aam Aadmi, Ashutosh, also tweeted his outrage. "I saw you with great respect, I had heard about these incidents before, but I did not believe them, but now that the women have come forward, I hope you would resign and you would submit to an investigation, but even you turned out to be a politician, "wrote Ashutosh in a tweet in Hindi. "Instead of resigning, MJ Akbar threatened, the BJP is silent," he said.
