The Amway Coaching Survey now has a well defined top five. While this does not guarantee that the playoff committee's standings will be identical, this clearly indicates to the candidates.

Of course, Alabama remains firmly in No. 1 position after eliminating LSU at Baton Rouge. The scarlet tide collected all 64 votes # 1 except one. Clemson, second in the standings, retains the last place after his demolition of Louisville. Notre Dame maintained its spotless record by preventing a late rally at Northwestern and remains stable third. Michigan and Georgia, with impressive performances against Penn State and Kentucky, complete the top five.

Store: West Virginia. The victory on the road of the climbers in Texas on a conversion in two points earned them a gain of two places in the eighth rank, just a point of voting behind the seventh state of Ohio.

Low stock: LSU. The Tigers remain in the top 10 of the number 4 standings, but it is now impossible to qualify for the playoffs.

Store: Syracuse The Orange, winners from 41 to 24 at Wake Forest, jump from 11 places to 13th place and equal their best ranking in football since 2001.

Low stock: Central Florida. UCF fans will not be happy this week. The Knights are actually second places in 11th place while they keep their record with a win Thursday night against Temple.

Store: Boston College. The Eagles draw against Syracuse, who finished 11th after winning at Virginia Tech. Coming to British Columbia is a home date with Clemson.

Low stock: Penn State. The Nittany Lions lost seven places to No. 20 after their very long day in Michigan.

New Kids On The Block: No. 22 State of North Carolina, No. 23 Cincinnati, No. 25 State of Iowa.

College dropouts: Houston, Iowa, Virginia.
