Latest bowl projections

Alabama coach Nick Saban said he plans to play against Tagovailoa this week against the Citadel.

Tagovailoa has been bothered by a right knee injury in recent weeks and has left the Mississippi State game after being touched. The Crimson Tide, in the front row, welcomes the great city Citadel on Saturday.

A journalist asked Saban on Monday that he was planning to have Tagovailoa sit down for the match to allow him to rest his knee.

Saban's answer: "No. Why would we do that, I mean, say that it was not an important game or that it did not need to play?"

Tagovailoa missed the fourth quarter against Mississippi State. Saban said the quarterback could have come back if necessary in the 24-0 win.

Here are some other things to watch for during Week 12 of the Southeast Conference Conference football season:

GAME OF THE WEEK

Missouri in Tennessee: Consider a statement about the awful nature of this week's SEC list that our best match involves two unclassified teams. A win on Saturday would make Tennessee (5-5, 2-4 SEC) an eligible bowl, a giant leap for a team that did not win the SEC competition last season. Missouri quarterback Drew Lock racked up 11,342 yards and only needed 187 yards to beat former Georgia quarterback David Greene to place second on record SEC.

TOP MATCHUP

Texas quarterback Kellen Mond A & M against UAB pass attacks: The Blazers recorded a school record of 38 bags for a game against Northern Illinois for the highest total of the Football Bowl Subdivision team. The defense of the UAB is also good at the right time, leading the country in defense in third and fourth defense. Opponents only convert their first attempts to 24.2% of their attempts. Texas A & M have lost two of their last three games, but the Aggies rebounded with a 38-24 win over the Mississippi last weekend. Mond threw three times and got another score in the Ole Miss game.

NUMBER OF GAMES

No. 1 Alabama (No. 1 College Football Playoff) has 24 home-winning wins to tie a previous school record set from 1971 to 1974. Alabama will be attempting to win its 25th consecutive home victory on Saturday against the Citadel. … Florida # 15 (CFP # 13) beat at least 17 points over Vanderbilt and South Carolina. Auburn in 2000, Arkansas in 2011 and Tennessee in 2016 are the only other teams in the SEC to have made several comebacks by 17 points in the same year. … No. 20 Kentucky (No. 17 CFP) has not scored more than 17 points in a match since September. … # 5 Andre Swift, of Georgia, has scored a touchdown of at least 77 yards in each of his last two games. He is the first Georgia player since Herschel Walker in 1980 to have two touchdown passes of at least 75 yards in the same season. … Texas' Braden Mann A & M averages 50.95 yards per punt, allowing them to break the NCAA record in one season for anyone with at least 36 punts. The record is currently held by Chad Kessler, who averaged 50.3 yards per puck for LSU in 1997. … Ole Miss & A.J. Brown broke the 1,000-yard mark by receiving a loss last week against Texas A & M. Brown is the first Miss Ole player to have two 1,000 yard receiving seasons.

UPSET WATCH

Tennessee have just won a 24-7 win over a Kentucky team but remain a 6-point underdog against Missouri. Tennessee needs one more win to qualify, while Missouri has already qualified. … Mississippi State is a 21 point favorite at home on Arkansas. The Bulldogs, ranked 25th (No. 21 CFP), have lost 24-0 against Alabama, first in the standings. Arkansas did not win the SEC, but played the LSU # 10 (CFP # 7) last weekend before losing 24-17.

IMPACT PERFORMER

Ke 's Shawn Vaughn, of Vanderbilt, has amassed 354 yards and four touchdowns in his last two games. Vaughn had 172 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Arkansas, followed by the transfer of Illinois by scoring 182 yards and a touchdown on 15 runs in a 33-28 loss to Missouri. Vaughn will then face a Miss Ole team that awards the most rushing yards per game (215.6) and yards per game (4.94) from all SEC teams.
