Alabama proved why it’s the top team in the country Saturday night after dominating LSU 29-0 in Baton Rouge, La.
While the Tide’s high-octane offense has been the main attraction all season, it was their defense that was the stand-out performer.

The Tide held the Tigers to just 12 rush yards on the night and came through in the fourth quarter with a interception of LSU quarterback Joe Burrow in the end zone to seal the win.
Tua Tagovailoa was terrific once again, completing 25 of his 42 throws for 295 yards, two touchdowns and his first interception of the season. He also rushed for 49 yards on the night, including a 44-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
With the win, Alabama clinched the SEC West and will face Georgia in the SEC Championship game on Dec. 1.

11:15 p.m. INTERCEPTION ALABAMA. Burrow is picked off by Alabama’s Mack Wilson in the end zone.
11:06 p.m.: Turns out Najee Harris hurt himself a few plays before the touchdown. He’s being tended to on the sideline.
11:02 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN ALABAMA. Damien Harris punches it in on a 1-yard touchdown run and the point after is good. Alabama leads 29-0.
10:59 p.m.: On his first snap of the fourth quarter all season, Tagovailoa hands it off to Najee Harris for a 29-yard run to the Alabama 49-yard line. Two plays later, he finds Jeudy for a 24-yard pick up to the LSU 20-yard line.
10:54 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL LSU. After the best drive of the night for the Tigers, kicker Cole Tracy pushes a 33-yard field goal attempt just to the left of the upright. Alabama leads 22-0.
10:47 p.m.: LSU starts the fourth quarter with the ball, driving in Alabama territory.

10:40 p.m.: LSU forces Alabama to punt and takes over at its own 21-yard line. Burrow then finds Justin Jefferson a few plays later for a 23-yard gain to the LSU 45-yard line. A face-mask penalty on Alabama moves the Tigers to the Tide’s 40-yard line.
10:36 p.m.: Tagovailoa is back in for the Tide.
10:33 p.m.: LSU squanders a 57-yard return by Clyde Edwards-Helaire. They punt it away and Alabama will take over with 3:31 to go in the third quarter.
10:32 p.m.: Tagovailoa limps to the sideline after his touchdown run. Seemed to tweak his knee on the play.
10:27 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN ALABAMA. Tagovailoa scrambles to pick up the first down and then some. Winds up in the end zone after a 44-yard touchdown run. The extra point in blocked. Alabama leads 22-0.

10:21 p.m.: LSU just can’t find any rhythm on offense. It’ll punt it away for the eighth time tonight.
10:15 p.m.: The Tigers manage to stop the Tide’s offense for now. They’ll take over after Alabama punts it away.
10:10 p.m.: LSU goes three-and-out on its opening drive of the second half. Alabama nearly blocks the ensuing punt, but LSU manages to get it away just in time.

9:34 p.m.: The Tigers go three-and-out and punt it away. On the first play after the return, Tagovailoa hits Jerry Jeudy for a 29-yard gain down to the LSU 25-yard line.

9:27 p.m.: INTERCEPTION LSU. Tagovailoa heaves one down field as the pocket collapses and is picked off by LSU’s Todd Harris.The Tigers will take over at their own 4-yard line after Tagovailoa’s first interception of the season.

9:19 p.m.: The Tigers are faced with a third-and-14 and can’t find the yardage. They punt it away and the Tide will take over with 4:32 to go in the half.
9:17 p.m.: LSU’s offense seems to be finding some rhythm as it picks up a couple first downs near midfield.
9:11 p.m.: FIELD GOAL ALABAMA. The Tide can’t punch it in from a few yards out, so they settle for a 23-yard field goal. Alabama leads 9-0.
9:09 p.m.: The Tide falls just short on third down, but they go for it on fourth-and-1 and convert. They’re now inside the LSU 10-yard line.
9:07 p.m.: Alabama’s offense is moving down the field almost at will. The Tide have 12 first downs tonight compare to just three by the Tigers.
9:01 p.m.: Start of the second quarter and LSU falls just short of converting on third-and-2. They’ll punt it away to Alabama.

8:56 p.m.: LSU fails to convert on third down, but a defensive pass interference call keeps the drive alive. Tigers now in Alabama territory for the first time tonight.
8:54 p.m.: Tagovailoa hits Jaylen Waddle for a 28-yard gain on third-and-15. However, the Tide are forced to punt three plays later after Tagovailoa overthrows one of his receivers on third down.

8:44 p.m.: The Tide sack Burrow on the first play of the ensuing drive. The Tigers wind up going three-and-out again. LSU’s offense looks stagnant early on.
8:38 p.m.: The officials overturn the targeting call. The snap on the extra point is poor and the Tide can’t convert. Alabama leads 6-0.

8:29 p.m.: LSU goes three-and-out on it’s opening drive and Joe Burrow nearly gets picked off on third down. The Tide will take over after a punt by the Tigers.
8:26 p.m.: LSU starts at its own 20-yard line after the punt.
8:23 p.m.: After another false start by Alabama, LSU comes up with a stop on third down. Alabama’s forced to punt on its opening drive for the first time all season.
8:20 p.m.: Alabama gets flagged for a false start, but a few LSU players don’t hear the whistle and continue to play and hit Tua Tagovailoa. He’s down for a bit, but gets up and walks off on his own power. He misses the next play, then jumps right back in.
8:18 p.m.: The Tide have already marched a good ways down the field. They’re in the red zone threatening early.
8:10 p.m.: Alabama lets the opening kickoff bounce out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. It’ll start at their own 25-yard line.
