First round: Red Sox 2, Astros 0

Low: Alex Bregman led the Astros against Rick Porcello, the Red Sox starter, against Xander Bogaerts. George Springer of Houston drilled one in the center right.

Jose Altuve made a deep strike to the right field, but Mookie Betts extended his glove into the stands, tipping the ball into the game after what would have been a two-run home run. Yet his glove was hit by supporters, preventing him from taking over the attack. The referee Joe West has therefore put Altuve out the door because of the intervention of his supporters.

high: Charlie Morton, star of the Astros, hit Mookie Betts with his second throw to open the match. Andrew Benintendi's slow ground training forced Astros second baseman Marwin Gonzalez to play a quality game, line up and toss to get the first withdrawal (Betts moved up to second).

J.D. Martinez led Morton to a full count before going for a walk. Xander Bogaerts allowed Betts and Martinez to advance one goal, but Morton immediately returned with a curved ball to suppress the Red Sox 's short stoppage. A base goal by Rafael Devers with two shots in the shallow left field scored both Betts and Martinez. Steve Pearce then failed, ending the threat.
