Actor Alec Baldwin, who won an Emmy for being mocked by President Trump on the Saturday Night Live show, was arrested Friday in front of his Manhattan apartment after arguing. about a parking lot, police said.
Mr. Baldwin was taken to a polling station and subsequently received a ticket to an office for assault and harassment.
Police said that someone apparently was holding a parking spot for Mr. Baldwin, but that another car stopped at that location, East 10th Street, between University Place and Broadway. Police said the other driver, aged 49, and Mr. Baldwin, 60, had an altercation.
Agents sent there as a result of a 911 call found that the unidentified young man had been injured in the jaw. He was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital and was listed in a stable condition.
Mr. Baldwin portrayed President Trump in "Saturday Night Live," and the two often clashed on social media.
In Washington, Mr. Trump was questioned about Mr. Baldwin's arrest. The president – himself a former guest of "Saturday Night Live" – stopped, then said, "I wish him good luck."
Mr. Baldwin has had clashes with the police in the past.
In 2014, he was arrested after driving his bike the wrong way on Fifth Avenue, near 16th Street. He was not wearing any ID and the officers who took him to a detention room accused him of disorderly conduct after he declared that he had become belligerent. Mr. Baldwin then complained about the arrest on Twitter, stating, "If you do not have ID in New York when they write to you, they can welcome you."
Mr. Baldwin was recently on television, with a poorly rated talk show on ABC. He also hosts a radio program on the radio for the New York Philharmonic. In recent years, he has recorded announcements urging concert fans to switch off their cell phones on the eve of the Lincoln Center's orchestra concerts.
But he had attracted the most attention from his appearances in "Saturday Night Live," the venerable late-night comedy show on NBC. Mr. Baldwin took office in 2016 while Mr. Trump was a candidate.
Mr. Trump, who had been the host of the series in previous seasons and who had also appeared in sketches in which he was portrayed by cast members such as Darrell Hammond, wrote on Twitter that the series made him a successful Mr. Baldwin.
In March, the president wrote on Twitter that it was "an agony for those who were forced to watch."
The president posted a tweet after Baldwin, in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, answered a question about how long he could continue playing Trump, saying, "Every time I do it now, it's like agony. Agony. I can not. "
Mr. Baldwin had a talk show on MSNBC in 2013, but he was suspended after being confronted by a photographer in which Mr. Baldwin used a gay insult. The photographer was trying to take pictures of Mr. Baldwin, his wife and baby in front of their building.
