It seems that David Chase and New Line have found their first star for the feature film "Sopranos".

Sources tell Variety Alessandro Nivola is in negotiations to play Dickey Moltisanti's lead role in "The Many Saints of Newark", the previous film of the critically acclaimed and critically acclaimed HBO television series.

New Line could not be contacted to comment on the casting.

Moltisanti is the dead uncle of Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, and the father of Christopher Moltisanti, played by Michael Imperioli. In the show, the character never appears, since he was murdered before the timeline of the drama, but there is talk of someone who, with Soprano's father and Uncle Junior , helped turn their little gang into a family of New Jersey criminals, led by Soprano.

Alan Taylor realizes from a scenario that the creator of the series, Chase, wrote with Lawrence Konner. Chase also produces the photo.

The details of the parcel are vague, except that it was defined during the riots of Newark in the 60s. More and more players of the tradition of "Sopranos" should join the character of Nivola.

The role is a major asset for Nivola, who has worked over the years in such films as "American Hustle", "Selma", "Neon Demon" and "A Most Violent Year". He was recently portrayed as Madoff's Bernie's son, Mark, in the HBO television movie "The Wizard of Lies."

It is taken over by CAA and Management 360.
