All aboard! Opening of a train train for 18 years at the Maple Valley Christmas Tree Farm

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. – A local arboreal farm has something special this year for Christmas tree lovers, young and old.

Harvey Hawken, owner of Crystal Creek Tree Farm in Maple Valley, has spent the last 18 years bringing a special Christmas train to life.

He found a diesel locomotive in British Columbia almost two decades ago, and then went to work, even setting the path himself.

The track is one kilometer long and the coach carries about 20 people per trip.

It's an opportunity for family fun with your Christmas tree, but Hawken said you do not even need to buy a tree to get on the train. The train, called Crystal Creek, Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad, operates through donations, he said.
