An alpaca did not let anyone catch their baby for a meal.

An alpaca was photographed after catching a cougar when the feline caught the week-old baby of the alpaca, called cria, at the Cedar Creek Alpacas farm in Bingen, Washington, according to FOX12. Oregon.

The cougar launched his 15-pound alpaca attack on September 16 while the baby was standing behind his mother, who quickly took action and chased the predator.

"It seemed [like] she was trying to stop this cougar but then she pursued it quickly in this pen, "said Angela Rogers, the farm's owner, at FOX12 about the incident.

The cria miraculously survived the attack, causing zoo officials to name it "Lucky". The alpaca has been stitched for a neck injury and is battling an infection. He must make a balance on Monday.

Washington Fish and Wildlife officials searched the area, but were unable to locate the cougar, FOX12 reported.
