The American Music Awards have brought together all genres for one of the biggest music nights!
Not only did Taylor Swift start the series with an explosive opening, she officially became the most successful artist in AMA history. Between the reactions to the winners' great moments and the friendly encounters between the stars during commercial breaks, PEOPLE has captured all the scenes.

On the red carpet
Khalid walked on the red carpet with a selfie stick and paused perfectly when a fan on the carpet wanted to stop and take a photo opportunity.
bachelorette Alunitarians Ben Higgins and Dean Unglert coordinated with bow ties that Higgins would have bought at Walmart.
And it was the night of appointments for many A-list couples like Cardi B and Offset were among those to pack on the PDA as well as Halsey and G-Eazy. It was even a double outing for Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, accompanied by their respective wives, Hayley and Brittney.

Inside the show
Host with most Tracee Ellis Ross was supported by his brother Evan Ross and his wife Ashlee Simpson, who applauded the blackish star with a standing ovation at his opening number.
Post Malone, who had a new haircut, was spotted at the top of the show with a glass of red wine and had a cocktail before his performance.
Real New York Housewives Carole Radziwill, alum, posed with fans in the audience.
After the performance of Mariah Carey's "With You", her backup dancers created a human wall so fans could not see the singer as she was removed from the platform on stage.
Presenter and American horror story Star Billy Eichner received a standing ovation when he spoke of the importance of believing in the woman in a reference to Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Cardi B was arguably the most popular star inside the Microsoft Theater, as many people attacked her for taking photos during commercials.

The rapper Xxxtentacion's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, accepted in tears her victory for her favorite Soul / R & B album. Spectators expressed their admiration for the star, who was shot dead against a motorcycle dealer located at the Outside Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in June. He was 20 years old.
Despite the disco panic of the previously recorded Bohemian Rhapsody performance on screen, many spectators stood up and influenced the band's performance. Many even joined the operatic singing: "Nothing really matters to me".

Meanwhile, Camila Cabello could barely keep her earnings behind the scenes.

However, the biggest applause of the evening was greeted by Swift, especially after winning the title of Artist of the Year. The public's reaction was particularly remarkable when the pop star reminded Swifties to vote in the mid-term elections.
This year's AMAs ended with a full tribute to the late Aretha Franklin, who died at the age of 76 on Aug. 19 from neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer. The fans present were seen dancing in the alleys and in their place.
