Amanda Knox is engaged to her boyfriend after an elaborate space-themed proposal

Amanda Knox announced Friday that she was engaged to her boyfriend Christopher Robinson after a space-themed proposal that was breathtaking.

Knox, 31, posted an excerpt of the proposal on his Instagram page on Friday. She has also uploaded the entire video of the proposal on YouTube.

"It was just your average Sunday night, when suddenly …", she subtitled the message on her Instagram account.

The video showed Robinson, a Seattle-based poet, talking to Knox before a smashing sound was heard. The couple heads to the backyard where a flashy meteorite sat, accompanied by the musical theme of "ET: The Extra-Terrestrial". Inside the meteorite was a tablet detailing his relationship with Robinson.

"Will you stay with me until the last star of the last galaxy goes out and even after?" Amanda Knox, do you want to marry me? Robinson asks.

"Yes, I will," Knox answers before kissing him.

"How did you do that?" She asked.

"I like you," he says.

At the end of the video, a description said, "This craze has been going on for over a year."

"And for the record, Amanda does not wear rings," he concluded.

Robinson and Knox have been dating since 2015, according to People.

Knox made headlines in 2007 after she was accused of killing her roommate Meredith Kercher in the apartment shared with two other students in Perugia, Italy. Knox was convicted in 2009 but acquitted and released in 2011 after spending nearly four years in prison.

She returned to the United States after the 2011 decision that released her, but she was again sentenced in absentia to a term of imprisonment in 2014 – until the highest was Italian court overturned this decision in 2015, thus ending the possibility of future lawsuits.
