Amazon said it was expanding its grocery delivery from Whole Foods to five new cities: Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, Minneapolis and Indianapolis.

The program, which uses Amazon's Prime Now to deliver meat, products and other staples to Amazon Prime members in as little as one hour, has been launched in February. Deliveries will also include selected alcoholic beverages in four of the five cities, with the exception of Indianapolis.

Amazon first launched deliveries from Whole Foods to Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach. A month later, he introduced the service in San Francisco and Atlanta. Amazon said it plans to expand shipments across the United States throughout 2018.

Earlier in the day, Amazon also announced that it would offer discounts to Premium members at all Whole Foods and Whole Foods 365 stores in the United States starting Wednesday. Preferred members will receive an additional 10% discount on select merchandise items and larger discounts on products marked blue "Prime Member Deal".

Previously, discounts were only available in some Whole Foods stores. The discounts, which also apply to products ordered through Prime Now, require buyers to download the Whole Foods app and log into their Amazon account.
