Amazon's no-go stores, known as Amazon Go, are starting to expand beyond Seattle. It was previously announced that the company planned to open two new stores in Chicago and San Francisco. Now, the company is preparing to face the Big Apple because CNN has confirmed that Amazon plans to open Amazon Go stores in New York.
Amazon's job board has several offers for different sales and management positions in a future Amazon Go store in New York. A spokesman confirmed that the company was planning to open a Go store in New York, but did not give details about where it would be or when the store was opened.
Amazon has not given any information on the number of stores it plans to open in New York. However, considering that the company has only three in his hometown of Seattle, it's a safe bet that we will see only one for the moment. However, if successful, they will likely expand to other sites in the future.
Although the store does not need cashiers, working in a Go store will probably be a fairly familiar experience for anyone having worked in the retail business. Employees will be required to prepare the various meals and snacks at the store, store shelves, unload trucks and provide general customer service.
In addition to not having to wait in queues, Amazon Go offers another advantage over traditional convenience stores. Since Amazon now owns Whole Foods, Amazon Go stores offer a variety of Whole Foods products for sale. Granted, they will not have the choice of a standard Whole Foods, but it offers a little more variety than your 7-11 or medium-sized bodega.
Amazon Go uses a combination of apps, sensors and cameras to track purchases and ensure users do not attempt to fly. To make purchases in stores, customers must download the Amazon Go application. From there, the various sensors in the store will track purchased items and reload the card into folders with your Amazon account.
