Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN), the king of disruption, could be ready to take over another industry.
US advertisers will spend $ 4.61 billion on Amazon's platforms this year, making the company the third most popular digital advertising destination behind Facebook Inc. (FB) and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) .
Amazon surpassed the Verizon Communication Inc. (VZ) oath for third place in the United States.
Amazon's share of the digital advertising market will account for 4.1% of all digital advertising spend in the US, according to industry observer eMarketer. The company hopes that Amazon will increase its advertising revenue by more than 50% per year by 2020, by which time the company will be the destination for about 7% of the country's digital advertising spend.
While Amazon is making progress and amassing a larger share of ad business, Google and Facebook far outpace, currently accounting for 57.7% of the market.
EMarketer expects Facebook to represent 20.8% of the market by 2020 and Google to account for 35.1%.
