The first trailer of the adaptation by Amazon of The boys is here and, as you can see in the picture, there is a certain attitude.
In the show, based on comics by Garth Ennis / Darick Robertson, superheroes are celebrities. They use their powers for good, but they are also well paid to do it, which creates all kinds of ethical and moral dilemmas. Enter the boys, a group that aims to shoot down corrupt superheroes.
Like another comic book from Ennis, Preacher, the adaptation of The boys is produced by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg. It will debut on Amazon Prime next year and here is the first tease. I think that pretty well prepares the scene for the show.
Of course, this is none other than Elisabeth Shue, of Karate Kid, Back to the future, parts II and III, and Adventures in Babysitting Natalie Stillwell, leader of Vought, a company that manages superheroes. Boys (who, of course, are not all boys) do not like it.
It's a different and cynical look at the kind of superheroes that hopefully will keep its promises. The first tease certainly makes this possible.
And if you still need to convince, to The boysThe New York Comic Con panel, Simon Pegg broke the festivities to announce he was playing a small role in the series. He plays Wee Hughie's father, played by Jack Quaid. And even if it seems random, it's really brilliant because Hughie was inspired by and drawn to look exactly Simon Pegg – and when The boys would be a movie, we say that Pegg plays the role. It was almost ten years ago, he now has the best thing to do.
