The Dallas police officer, who said he shot a black man in his apartment thinking it was his own apartment, also shot another man last year, according to court documents.

According to police, Amber Guyger, a four-year-old force veteran, told investigators that she was returning home Thursday night and that she accidentally entered Jean Botham's apartment. Guyger, who is white, believed Jean was an intruder and shot him, the police said. The police published some other details.

"Right now, there are more questions than answers," said Police Chief Renee. "We understand the concerns of the community, which is why we work with as much vigor and thoroughness as possible to ensure the integrity of the case and the maintenance of the ministry."

In May 2017, Guyger was called to help another officer look for a suspect. An affidavit says that a man identified as Uvaldo Perez came out of a car and became combative with Guyger and another officer. A fight started and Guyger fired his Taser at Perez, who ripped him off the gun. Guyger then fired his gun and shot Perez at the abdomen, says the affidavit. Guyger has not been charged in the case.

John's family claims charges against Guyger in the death of John.

"This family is frustrated," said lawyer Lee Merritt. "This family regrets that there has not yet been an arrest. We believe that the fact that this has not happened yet is a reflection on the treatment of law enforcement officers. "

Hall announced Friday that investigators were preparing a warrant for manslaughter. She also referred the case to the Texas Rangers, citing the need for transparency in the investigation.

A day later, however, she said the Rangers had asked her to hold the charges. The Rangers, she said, had interviewed Guyger and wanted to further investigate the information obtained from her.

Jean's mother, Allison Jean, flew to Dallas from St. Lucia's birth family after filming.

"It's the worst call a mother can receive," she said. "It's the worst of pains."
