AMC Theaters is increasing the price of its Stubs A-List subscription plan – at least in some states.

Rather than simply charging $ 19.95 a month, AMC will soon be offering different prices to residents of different states. California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York will see the largest increase at $ 23.95 per month. Meanwhile, the cost will increase to $ 21.95 per month in the states of Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington , as well as from Washington, DC

The price is supposed to stay the same everywhere. The increase will take effect January 9, 2019 and, according to AMC, if you register before this date, your price will be valid for 12 months.

Stubs A-List was launched at the end of July. In September, the company announced that it had already attracted 380,000 subscribers. Now, after 4.5 months, the number reaches 500,000 people.

Of course, AMC launched the service after MoviePass helped popularize the subscription-based movie ticket model – but since then, MoviePass has limited users to a rotating line of movies, which competitors have taken advantage of. (The Stubs mailing list allows subscribers to purchase up to three tickets per week for any movie, regardless of format, in any AMC theater.)

"Our decision to keep the monthly price of the AMC Stubs checklist in 35 states unchanged, as well as only a modest price adjustment in some key markets set up in early 2019, will keep us in this ideal position. balance between profits and popularity, "said AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron in a statement.
