An American Airlines hostess who claims to have been dragged into the wing by her headscarf by another crew member sued the Dallas-based carrier for failing to investigate the brawl July 2016 or to take steps to ensure its safety.
In his lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court and obtained by Kathy Ida Wolfe, of the Dallas Morning News, says another air hostess, Laura Powers, "mischievously buried her nails in the arm and slammed the door of a drinks cart" and later "grabbed my scarf, mrewed me in the hallway and in front of the passengers."
Wolfe, who resides in Irving, Texas, testified that he followed the appropriate procedure and reported the incident to the captain, the other crew members and the flight services manager.
When no one from the airline company intervened, she states that she reported the attack and the battery to the judicial authorities.
She alleges that American was negligent and created a dangerous work environment, violating his contract. She claims $ 1 million in damages.
American Airlines spokeswoman Michelle Mohr confirmed the complaint in the US today, but she did not comment on the allegations, saying that "American is striving to create a work environment in the United States. which all members of the team feel safe and respected. "
The airline and Powers' lawyers reacted to the complaint after the initial filing of it in a local court, arguing that they were "not responsible for the fact that the plaintiff had caused or had contributed to the harm for which the recovery of the damages was sought. "
