American tourist died in the explosion of a boat tour to the Bahamas, 9 wounded

PINELLAS COUNTY, Florida – Authorities confirmed that an American tourist died in a fire explosion on a small boat touring the Bahamas Saturday morning. Nine others were injured.

In a US Coast Guard press release, an official said that four Americans had been flown to the St. Petersburg / Clearwater International Airport.

A Bayfront Health spokesperson in St. Petersburg confirmed that one of his patients was in stable condition.

The 48-year-old man was brought to the hospital for a broken ankle.

Royal Bahamas Police spokeswoman Chanta Knowles confirmed to ABC News that the explosion occurred on a boat carrying 12 people – 10 Americans and two Bahamians – shortly after 9 Saturday morning hours.

The cause of the explosion has not been determined yet. The Exuma police is conducting the investigation.

A video shot by spectators on a neighbor showed the consequences of the explosion. Three people on the nearby boat jumped into the shallow waters and helped to pull at least one injured person from the disabled boat.

For the moment, the authorities have not given the name of the American victim.

In a Facebook post by Exumas and Ragged Island MP Chester Cooper, he stated that two other Americans were listed in "Extremely Critical Condition."

The passengers of the 4 C Excursion in the Cox of Exuma this morning, an American, died as a result of his wounds.
Two other people who were on board, the two Americans at last report, were airlifted to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau. They are in an extremely critical state.
Two other people who were on board, an American woman, a Bahamian woman, are flown to Nassau for treatment based on this opinion.

The remaining people on board have no serious injuries.
